how to get out of a creative slump - dealing with creative block and trying something new

How to Get Out of a Creative Slump: Try Something New

The other day, I was making a cup of tea (as all good stories begin), and a tiny thought popped into my head:
Sometimes, when I’m feeling stuck creatively - or deep in a bit of a creative slump - what I need isn’t a big breakthrough…
It’s just something new.

A new tea. A new walk. A new playlist. A new book.
Something small, different, refreshing - just enough to nudge my brain out of autopilot and make it notice the world again.

The Power of New

When you’re in a creative block - or just feeling a bit grey - it’s easy to believe you need a big change to feel inspired again. But the truth is, novelty, even in tiny doses, can make a huge difference.

Psychologists say our brains love new experiences. Trying something unfamiliar can activate your brain’s reward system and help boost creativity, curiosity, and motivation. If you’re wondering how to feel creative again or get out of a rut, start small.

Ask yourself:

What’s one “new” thing I could do today?

A fresh new book to spark new ideas and get out of a creative block.

Let It Be Gentle

If your ideas are feeling flat or you’re stuck in a bit of a creative block, trying something new can be the reset your brain is craving. It’s one of the simplest creative block tips I come back to again and again - and it works.

This isn’t about reinventing your whole life - it’s about refreshing your eyes.
Sometimes all it takes is one small change to remind you how expansive the world really is.

If you’re feeling creatively burnt out or uninspired, this is your reminder that you’re not alone - and there are so many gentle ways to spark creativity again. You’ve got this 💛

Try one new thing this week. Just one. Let it be easy. Let it feel fun.

And if you do try something, I’d love to hear what it was. You can message me on Instagram - I always love hearing what’s helping you feel inspired.

Love,
Tacha x
